Date: Fri, 18 Feb 1994 17:31:06 -0500 Subject: 185 SWILnewses walk into a bar... (SWILnews#4) Massacre, reunion, tshirts, Bem, Movies , dismemberment... All this and more could have been yours (and probably was) if you were lurking about Swat this week. Rest assured that we co-presidents have been so busy investigating all these happenings that only now, in the wee hours of the afternoon can we take a quick moment to write up a bit of SWILnews. So, here's what's sort of new and what's real old and what's just right: Sort of new: We have replies to a reunion. There is life out there and it's R.S.V.P.ing. So far the report is about 10 people, and considering these are dinosaurs, that's quite a biomass. Mail Elizabeth Christian about housing, and any and all other reunion-related stuff (that's echrist1 @ cc.swarthmore.edu for the e-mail inclined). We also encountered such fun things as logistical problems, schedule problems, and Mike Jitlov problems. Never fear, we brave and stalwart co-presidents have done what had to be done... we've delegated. Thus, Saturday we will find all problems to have been miraculously alleviated. You're all welcome. Other new stuff includes the nasty rumor that SWIL might be having movies this or some other weekend. It is still a rumor, because we haven't told jere7my to put up signs yet. Nonetheless, the goal is to have two movies showing this Monday night starting at 8:00 pm in Kirby [Hopefully they will be ending in Kirby as well. -TG] By executive (Honda) accord, the movies this week will be Alien followed by Aliens. [Go forth and multiply. -L] Look for signs, tell your friends, make the popcorn, and if this thing doesn't happen it was all Charles's idea anyway. Reunion T-shirts didn't appear, but perhaps they shall soon. Apparently we have all old designs, and there have been Jurassic rumblings about new concepts. Stay tuned, t-shirt designs will be making an appearance this week at the meeting. What's Real Old: There are seven less gangsters around. Yes, that's right, we had one big ol' action scene in Sharples last Monday, and it was _some_ fun! Kudos to Larry and Charles for making this one of the two best Valentine's Day Massacres I can remember here at Swat. Special honorable mention to the fine yams. [Ask the waitrons. -TG] [Colin's philosophy of life- - I yam what I yam. -L] George is in Tarble, Charles is looking for Jim, and the bands that practice in the Sound Machine are a whole lot less annoyed. Blue is not sentient. This was somewhat confusing for some of us since she seemed a whole lot more so than... oh say... Charles. Perhaps we shall see more on this subject at this coming meeting. Don't put away your carving knives just yet. On a bit less flippant note, we all had to say good-bye to Beth for a while. The snow finally melted a bit, and our favorite imp made a dash for it. However, we all know she'll be back some day to visit. [Cue quiet, stirring incidental music. -TG] What's just right: The weather today. (Friday) NonSWIL news: Jen Pratt, roommate of Leslie, and friend to all the world, left this week inthe wee early hours of the morning. Although we are sad to see her go, we can rest assured that she should be able to find her way back here by next semester. There was this ball, which wasn't round, but was apparently still a lot of fun. People danced and talked and wore funny clothes. There was a movie, _Annie Hall_ which was very funny, and let everyone know just what it means to be a New York Jew, even the people who don't watch Northern Exposure. There was also excessive debate over the Acadamy Awards. Larry was kind enough to read off most of the important ones, including Best Documentary. Thanks Larry. [If anyone brings this topic up again, they will be facing the business end of a Sharples tray. I mean it! -TG] Attendance: --------------- Charles "Fillate of Hood Ornaments" Danforth, Michael "Rudy Rucker" Scott, Michael "Plant for David Sobel" Brus, Colin "Protist for Jim Henson" Schatz, Kristin "come to the ball" Walker, Kathy "not thinking right now" Davis, Justin, Ross "I'm finally here, but not for long" Dickson, Josh "pightle" Burdick, Jeremy "Jeremy "Jeremy "Jeremy "Jeremy "Jeremy "Jeremy "Jeremy , Todd "Nitkh I my topologies are more scrambled than Charles!"
