This is a SWILnews. A what? A SWILnews. How much? Free. That's too much. That's SWILnews. This special edition of SWILnews was brought to you by Those Wonderful Folks in the Pentagon. Rumor has it (that's Jacob "Pop" Yular Rumor, 1899-1999) that television tonight will feature the return of a once-deceased show: M-M-M-M-Max Headroom. Headroom. Th-th-that's right; it's taking the place of the now-defunct Asimov show, Probe, in the experimental Thursday evening slot on channel 6. It should st-st-start, start, around eight o'-o'-o' P.M., or maybe nine. Check your TV listings. This is a big weekend for SWIL: Saturday night is the Friday the Thirteenth/Walpurgisnacht Horror and Science Fiction Story Reading, starting at 7 P.M. in, of all places, Hallowell basement, just around the corner from the SWIL room. Everyone is welcome. Bring friends and stories; refreshments will be served. Or at least available. Co- sponsored by SWIL and Story Reading. Sunday afternoon, at 2 P.M., in Bond, is the Open Meeting, featuring James Deane and Chris Cobb as facilitators and any leftover refreshments as food. Everyone is welcome. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights at 8 P.M. in the DuPont Lecture Room, Schlock Films Will Be Shown, In Capital Letters. There will be one film per night. Monday: _The Raven_. Tuesday: _Girl Who Knew Too Much_. Wednesday: _Dark Star_. Kir will be the projectionist. Jim Moskowitz organized it. Everyone is welcome. (don't thank me!) At the last meeting, it was revealed that Off Centaur Publications, Incorporated, has given us permission to keep our filk files on the PR1ME and print out copies as long as we give them attribution. In other news, they may be very close to bankruptcy; if you've always wanted to order filk material from them, now's the time to do so. In other news, they're still looking for new songs for _The Westerfilk Collection, Volume Three_; all you itinerant filkers out there, get to work! Jim Huang, Jennie Jacobson, and Tina Anderson, ex-SWIL Presidents extraordinaire, graced the meeting with their presence. The Science Fiction Discussion Group will have a final meeting of the semester this Saturday at dinner (roughly 5 P.M.) to decide on topics for next year. SWIL will co-sponsor _Blade Runner_ with Movie Committee next year the week before October Break; we plan to hold the film over and show it as part of the Tenth Anniversary Celebration. BEM is done, has been taken to the printers, and should be ready to staple and distribute any day now, thanks to the superlative efforts of Chris Cobb and Kir Talmage. Attendance? After all that, you still want attendance? You won't get it! Oh, sorry. Here, then: radajadbscccjdmewfbhjhjhmhdhghskkkjms mmemjmjojphrbrsrgsdvsswawewmwjyjsjhtajjcwtf. Yes, it's the return of the long string of lowercase initials. And if you want your money back, well, just remember: you didn't pay anything! Almost forgetting to sign off, we could still be: The Presidents Who Go Ecki-Ecki-Ecki-PING!
