    An innocent and unsuspecting SWILmeeting slowly changes to turmoil and
    confusion as a maniacal band carrying two laptops and a box of chalk
    comes to town bringing movie nominations and widespread death.

kiki's delivery service (anime)
    A young witch (i'm not a witch!  i'm an eggplant! -H) leaves her home to
    make a life on her own in the city.  Her first job is substituting as
    miniprop for Event Horizon.  Adult situations, profanity.

    Something's cooking....  Could be pot roast, but it's probably just the
    shadow SWIL attendance list.  Another fine dish from chef Ben.  "I'm not
    gonna try it, are YOU gonna try it?" -Mikey [note: we have no idea what
    this item of SWILBusiness is either.]

metropolis
dark city
    Once every hundred years (more like five -u) a lost city of SWILumni
    rise from deep within a Scottish moor.  This time, we have evidence!

    untitled (jimmosk) also has photos, so see him.

the stepford wives
    Women in a suburban town mysteriously start to turn into living,
    shambling masses of OOB.  They spontaneously congregate to organize a
    science fiction convention.  This Thanksgiving you cannot resist the
    temptation to join them.  (contact bnewman at sccs to help organize
    SWILcon)

3x3 eyes (anime)
silent running
    A psychic boy, the last survivor of his race, struggles for survival
    while being tortured by premonitions of... SWIL presidency.  On 5
    December, in Sharples room 4, witness his nomination, followed on 12
    December ("my true love gave to me" -u) by his heroic struggle against
    the evil forces of Lord Julius' Goat.

the seventh seal
    Death comes for a knight returning from the crusades.  To buy time for
    himself, he challenges Death to an endurance test.  Who will survive the
    endless ordeal of sitting through... "Event Horizon"?

max headroom
    In the sequel, the triumphant knight is rewarded with a full house
    showing of "Labyrinth" (which drew a crowd of almost forty Swatties this
    week).

light years
    In the far distant future, there will be a time of peace, a time of
    plenty, a time of relaxation.  In short, a time when all lovers of
    fantasy may gather and spend twenty-four hours reading the works of
    J.R.R. Tolkien.  However, that time has not yet come.  (More about
    reviving the 24-hour Tolkien reading next semester.)


time bandits
    Terry Gilliam is trapped in an endless loop, forced to eternally relive
    the 65 minutes of his life spent nominating SWIL movies.  Can he escape
    the endless procession of evil dead power ranger batmen to move on to
    e-mail movie voting?  (By the way, if it hasn't become more obvious than
    drool by this point, this SWILNews is devoted to the movies that we are,
    indeed, showing next semester.)


battlestar galactica
    After the final destruction of their planet, a crowd of weary survivors,
    carrying only their sharples trays piled high with uneaten potatoes and
    empty soda cups, seek to recapture their lost afternoon.  (BTW, thanks
    to everyone who came to movie nominations.  We could have done it
    without you, but you wouldn't have been pleased... -H)

    James Bond is back in a duel to the death against reams of paper.
    Witness the power of the Tactical Nuclear Stapler as it defeats the
    raging torrent of uncollated pages in "SWAPA Collation CXCVI".
