.h/SWILnews/Volume 7, No. 2/September n>22/ .tm 3 .bm 3 .sp 2 Greetings folks! This week's meeting was packed with surprises, namely: voting non-members: Irene Ghatt, Shoshanna Green (Weyrleader), Sherry Hartenstine, Alison Knapp, Dan Levi, Esther Oey, Gavin Schnitzler, Zenna Henderson (aka Jay Scott, voted Woman of the Week), Jed Shumsky (Weyrleader), Matt Wall (entered on the line, "We have twenty bucks left over to bring crap!"), and Heather Whipple; soon-to-be-non-members (if they attend the next meeting on Saturday at high noon): Ruth Alfasso, John Beale, Mike Caspar, David Coates, Eric Cohen, Jim Crawford, Pery Deess, Eric Knapp (in duplicate), Kevin Murphy, Claudia Sorsby, and Steve Ward; and members: Anna Lise Buonanno, Belle Federman, Sarah Heimenn, Gabe Hutter, Mike Jones, Jim Moskowitz, Julie Patrick, David VanStone, and Robert Wolff. (Whew!) That's a record attendance of 32 somewhat sentient beings. Claude Raines may have put in an appearance, but how could we tell? An official vote of thanks goes to Sherry and her merry band of poster makers (YEA!) for {{BLADERUNNER}}, which we are cosponsoring with Movie Committee. The three (thanks to Becky Henderson) shows had remarkable turnouts: (6:30) 170 persons, (8:45) 230 persons, and (11:00) lO persons. Our solely SWIL movie this semester is {{Fahrenheit 451}} and will be shown Sunday night, 11/11. There was phenomenal support for a Schlock film festival for next year and/or semester. This depends on ourr ever-dwindling movie budget. And speaking of budget, SWIL has a whopping $975 to spend this year on our various activities: In order to keep track of all this, we need a TREASURER. Now, I (Jed) have been Treasurer for two years and I am quite ready to retire, therefore I need a replacement. Matt Wall is the only nominee so far but if anyone else is interested please tell me very soon because Budget Committee needs to knous by Sunday or they'll freeze our funds (nice of them to warn us). SWAPA collation has moved to Monday due to various technical difficulties. A copy of the new issue will be circulated at the next meeting. FILKSING (a collection of people to sing?? sf related parody-type songs) will be held sometime during the end of October, as will the Pterodactyl Hunt (if funded by Oktoberfest or Budget Committee) and the Halloween Party. Sherry and Esther are in charge of the Halloween Party and want help (Hint, Hint). Perry and Eric are working on the P. Hunt and want help, too. New events: a Wargames club was proposed by Prry and Jim. It would have to be separate from SWIL in order to receive a budget, but that's OK if there is interest for it. Something to that effect will be posted on the SWIL board. By the way, feel free to post interesting sf related things there when motivated. Don't forget to attend a meeting soon (or notify the Weyrleaders) or you will be dropped from the oversubscribed mailing list. See you all on Saturday at high noon. Hail Eris, Jed + Shoshanna
