SWIL NEWS Volume 6, Volume 8 October n<29, 1983 Last time there was a sharp reduction in attendance solely thanks to Murphy's law since we did have the biggest reserved dining room. Well, maybe not solely due to that.... Present were Matt Wall, Esther Oey, Jay Scott, Scott Schwartz, Ed Ervin, Heather, Jed, Stefan, Ben Fulves, Gwen, Ellen, Jack Sutherland, myself, and some other people who might not have really been all there. Ben, Scott, Gwen, Ed, and Jack have now received amazing privileges. Heather is once again up for them. That last round, though, did change things quite dramatically, though. Now there are 23 with and 10 without on the SWILLIST. Heather had some more suggestions for the motto to go on the t-shirt and some other people chipped in I believe: "The SWILmarillion"; "I think therefore I SWIL, I SWIL therefore I am"; and "In the SWIL of the night". If anyone has any t-shirt designs or suggestions please pass them on. It would be very nice to come to some kind of decision before Thanksgiving break and Philcon which goes with that. Speaking of Philcon, I received in the mail a little postcard which verified my membership along with those of Barbara, Ellen, Ben Fulves, and Scott Schwartz. By all accounts I believe that the Pterodactyl Hunt was a success. Somehow two people did get injured. I called security, but they could not tell me who they were. I believe someone mention that one of the first names was Mary Wanda. Well, whoever you are, I hope that you feel better. An improvement (?) to the hunt was also mentioned: give monsters a headband or some form of identification apart from regular participants. There was a very limited attendance at the Filksing. Barbara came to the rescue and helped transport some things to Bond. I believe the only people there besides myself were: Jed, Alison, Heather, and Irene. A photographer also did come in and took some pictures. Jed will try and pay the blackmail as soon as possible. In SWIL.
