From acbrown @ sccs.swarthmore.edu Thu Sep 22 22:04:42 2005 Date: Thu, 22 Sep 2005 21:38:57 -0400 (EDT) From: Andrew C. Brown Reply-To: presidents @ swil.org To: swilnews @ swil.org Subject: SWILnews #3 is really, really... [ The following text is in the "iso-8859-1" character set. ] [ Your display is set for the "utf-8" character set. ] [ Some characters may be displayed incorrectly. ] SWILnews #3 is really, really... ... long, not at all in part because Abby attempted a literary coup on the notes, while the rabble were being depressingly pathetic, so much so that Jamison was going to kill himself over it, which he didn't do because an interesting discussion was going on about how Kyle had such a big harem, Kyle being a dorm, not a person, [which nevertheless manages to get into all sorts of sexual exploits with coeds -m] -- so it was that Jamison wished us all a happy Saturday, especially since Serenity opens on September 30th, and we decided we're to a midnight showing, which surprised Jamison, who has now sent out emails to the Serenity list (email him at djamiso1 if you didn't get an email and would like tickets); [BREATH] in other organizational news, Susan is organizing the trip to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire for this Sunday, so you should contact her if you want to go, because there may still be room, especially if you have a car or are van-certified; however, you've already missed Monday's SWILmovie, which was "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" -- next Monday's SWILmovie is Pi, a thrilling tale of mathematical drama, which is actually true, and which you should see, but not until after you submit to Abby -- I mean BEM, [BREATH] which has nothing to do with the fact that our voiceboxes are made of melted Jello, and that humidity pisses Andrew, [who is currently cutting open his cat -c], off, [despite the fact that he insists that he was removing the corporate brand of his fox -c] [such that there is now no proof that it was ever in Ty headquarters -m], which was all very well and good until Lauren arrived -- [BREATH] the Hunt is still October first, starting at 6:30 for Monsters, 7:30 for Hunters, with bloodshed beginning at 8:00, even between the Orcs and Hobgoblins, who started fighting twenty years ago; however, the Werewolf, we decided, isn't allowed to bite anybody, much as he might want to (unlike Abby, on the other hand, who might bite you if people don't start helping Jackie with prop, or stop Jillian, [who doesn't remember this -c] from committing chalk felony), even though it doesn't happen in the original Star Wars, which Jackie bought for SWIL online, proving that she is not a felon; she also brought us an autographed copy of Reaper Man, which led to her being declared Awesome ... Or Something, unlike Andrew, who allegedly can't even help being suggestive; [BREATH] we still need another swordmaking, which isn't nonSWILbusiness, nor in it, nor under it, although it is really hot, as is Abby, who wants you to behold the hotness of her, and also that in the world there exists this awesome substance known as BUBBLE WRAP, which is not quite as awesome as the fact that Chaos started moving the wiki this weekend to wiki.swil.org, which is also awesomer than, but not by much, the LOTTERY, which Blake won by default, because he picked up someone else's lottery ticket after they left the room, and was therefore allowed the choice between a "purty piece of purple fluff" [from a purple time in a purple land far away... -c] and the "mystery pocket", the latter of which he, for some unknown reason [everyone loves fluff! -c] he chose, and thus got to take away a flashy thing from Genuardi's, which he later handed over to the rightful holder of the lottery ticket, Greg Robinson, who cursed because he'd thought he'd gotten rid of the thing, bringing down the NONSWILBUSINESS of DOOM... [BREATH] which started off with Abby [Graber] wanting to co-sponsor the Rocky Horror Picture Show with QSA, assuming it's okay with QSA, but that would mean it probably ought not to be in ML; one movie that will never be co-sponsored by SWIL is Lord of War, because it stars Nicholas Cage as the Evil Western Power, and Ethan Hawke as Cute [Please note that the opinions written in this portion of SWILNews represent the views of one person, and not a general statement on the state of the universe, and thus, cannot, by SWIL By-Law 37.4.6.2, be declared 'true' -m][But I actually do agree that Nicholas Cage is evil, and Ethan Hawke is Cute -f], albeit not as cute as Chibi Wolverine, or the characters of the film Twelfth Night, which was shown as Saturday Night SWIL [along with an impromptu sword-making, begun when a phoenix photographer knocked on Finlay's door, expecting us to be making swords, which we were technically supposed to be doing that night -c]; [BREATH] we discussed having a Mystery Tour of Swarthmore as next week's Saturday Night SWIL, but there's a lot of stuff going on that weekend, including a contra Friday night at 7:30, possibly collaging in Greylock, and Sol Weber's coming to Swarthmore to sing rounds in the Friends Meeting House on Sunday, all of which still adds up to make that weekend less hectic than the following weekend, when we're showing Wizard of Speed and Time after the Hunt, assuming we are not all dead and still have the space [but we will still all be dead, that's the point -m], [BREATH] and speaking of dead, Sarah and Kit will be holding a zombie fest at some point [mmm... BRAINS -the notes]; Noda owns Frag, so the end is near, leaving us only the ATTENDANCE LIST of There Is No George Dahl, which does at least contain: Sarah "Prattityasamutpoda" Hartman, Margaret "flying cats" Cosgriff, [I'm the virtuous president -f], [why are *you* the virtuous president? -c], [because I don't have sex, and don't enjoy threatening people -f], [*I* don't have sex -m], [but *Jillian* does -f], [you see, this is why I'm much smarter than both of you put together -m], Meggie Ladlow, [what, because I don't have sex but I do enjoy threatening people? -m], Emmanuelle "My Jello is melting" WAMBACH, Mike "In the grip of cold death" Karcher, Jamison "Propeater" Fordwarrior, Ordway "King" The Spearfighter, The Once "And Future" Jamison, 46,000 Peruvian leaping / plumbering llamas, Chris "Something witty" Jager, Guey "The Real Folk Blues*" Robinson, [mmm... guey robinson... -m], This is not a "George" Dahl, A video game-stealing flying 'burning ninja llama, "Sm" Arthur "thron" Chu, Lauren "Fluffy" Goodfriend, A singing and dancing banana, Jeff [?eJJ Xonwau] Kaufman, [that was supposed to be upside-down -c], Miriam "Kid tested, mother approved" Newman, Blair "Sters go boom and so do I" Reaser, Katie "I don't know who I am" Bates, Allison "In Blair's backpack" Barlow (Proxy), Mary "Cosgrove-Davies" Wootters, Marie "Wootters" Cosgrove-Davies, Abigail "Meh" Graber, *Part I, Michael "... and one. and one. and one..." Noda, "Are you cognizant of the metatheoritcal quandaries of the " Abby Friedman "paradigm? Cause I'm not.", Jackie "::inset something witty here::" Werner, Terry "SANDWICHES!" Pratchett, Eliza "Lightsaberkeeperer -er" Blair, George " Blake C. M. Setlow " Dahl, Blake "ur-George" Setlow, but not the PRESIDENTS, Iron Fist, Iron Man, and Iron Curtain.
