From jgoldie @ sccs.swarthmore.edu Thu Dec 9 23:57:02 2004 Date: Thu, 9 Dec 2004 23:28:00 -0500 (EST) From: Jillian G. Waldman Reply-To: presidents @ swil.org To: SWILnews Subject: Halfway to Election Results Last week, we held Round One of SWIL election voting. Normally, Round One and Round Two take place in the same meeting, but due to time constraints and many lengthy platforms, we've postponed Round Two till next week. So, in the grand tradition of voters in presidential elections everywhere, you get to wait. The main purpose of Round One was to determine the tickets to go on the ballot for Round Two. In Round Two, each voter will be permitted to cast three ranked votes, for a first, second, and third place choice. Votes will be weighted by rank (5 points to first choice, 3 to second, 1 to third), and by district (some sort of complicated scheme involving the electoral map). And then you'll have presidents of some variety. If you won't be at next week's meeting, please email me at jgoldie @ sccs.swarthmore.edu with your votes. If you've already cast an absentee vote, you're free (and, in fact, advised) to change it to reflect the current ballot. Platforms will be linked to from http://www.swil.org/SWILnews/Fall04/ as soon as I get them uploaded. Thank you in halfwaythroughness for your participation in SWIL Election 2004. ~ Venti ------------------------------------------ RESULTS OF SWIL ELECTION: VOTING ROUND ONE Candidates on the Ballot for Round Two (3 ranked votes): Andrew Brown, Mai Pucik, and Jillian Waldman Sarah Hartman, Sarah Kelsall, Norma Altshuler, Joanna Karpinski, Chelsea Rosenthal All nominated parties + Andrew Jackie and the Purity Point She Gets For Running All tickets + Andrew Chris & Lauren & Lauren & Chris Jamison and all the Jamison clones Picard / Q / Subtext Ballot initiatives (undecided initiatives will be re-voted on in Round Two): YES on Alex's right to perform Moonie Weddings NO on the Living Wage for SWIL officers MAYBE on the Destruction of LJ by Belgian Mercenaries YES on SWIL's right to perform gay marriages YES on SWIL's lack of right to perform any marriages
